Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II Firmware Update

Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II Firmware Download

Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II Review - E-M10 was conceived as the most affordable camera in the Olympus OM-D premium line: at a relatively small price and dimensions, it had a unique set of characteristics, it was very difficult to give a response to competitors. Of course, the camera also had shortcomings: a short series of pictures at maximum speed, unpretentious and undeveloped control functions with a touchscreen, no access point mode for the Wi-Fi module and a decent weight. But in any case, the camera turned out to be extremely interesting.

In six thousand of the price difference between Mark I and Mark II, the five-axis stabilizer instead of the three-axis stabilizer entered, the viewfinder with a resolution of 2360 thousand points (the same as the E-M5 Mark II), 1080 / 60p video recording mode (against 1080 / 30p for the predecessor) , The battery has a slightly increased capacity and support for memory cards such as SD UHS-II with a recording speed of up to 250 MB / s, which should positively affect the duration of the serial shooting.

Olympus is deservedly proud of the exterior of its cameras - the designers of the company are very talented to cross retrostyle and modernity in them. Made in a "mirror" style, with a decorative hump "pentaprism" with a built-in electronic viewfinder, the camera looks great. Competing in terms of design with the OM-D E-M10 Mark II can only Fujifilm X-T10. Of course, the build quality of the metal case is great, no problems due to the fact that the camera is assembled in Vietnam, no.

This is a compact and lightweight camera, which at the same time is very comfortable in the hand thanks to rubberized protrusions in the front and back of the case. It weighs about the same as direct competitors, Fujifilm X-T10 and Sony Alpha a6000. But the baby Panasonic DMC-GM5 is almost twice as easy - when compared with her, all the cameras in this segment look giants.

On the rear panel there are changes in comparison with the first E-M10. First of all, the disappearance of the power lever and the flashback lock button is striking: the first was located in the lower right corner, so when working with the camera with one hand it was not so easy to reach it with your thumb; The second was installed too close to the projected inclined display, it was inconvenient to use. Both of these elements in the test chamber were reduced to one and transferred to the top panel.

Above the display is a viewfinder with proximity sensor and diopter adjustment. In the upper right corner, only the programmable Fn1 key remains. Slightly below are the keys to enter the main menu, change the display mode of the display, as well as the four-way manipulator with the enter key in the center. Each of the keys of the manipulator can be programmed in the menu, which is very convenient. At the bottom edge are the buttons for playing and deleting pictures or video files.

On the upper edge is a hump of a flash, with a "hot shoe" in the base and built-in microphones on the sides. To the left is a programmable Fn3 key, as well as the power and flash activation lever. On the right side there is a small round selector for shooting modes, a video button and a programmable Fn3 key, as well as a pair of control dials, one of which has a shutter release button on the center of one of them. You can find fault here only with the placement of the video recording key, which is not so easy to pick up because of the second control dial. It is possible to get used to this, although, from a subjective point of view, it would be better to transfer the video recording button to the empty center of the second control dial.
